Uthark

Nightside of the Runes

By Thomas Karlsson.  This is the VERY RARE 1. st edt. 2002.

From the head of the Dragon Rouge and author of Qabalah, Qliphoth, and Goetic Magic... This book is an introduction to runosophy, the wisdom of the runes, and to practical rune magic. The runes are dynamic symbols that characterise hidden forces. The outer shapes of the runes have changed through history, but the principles that they symbolise are today almost the same as during old Norse times. This book does not claim to include a historical description of runes or rune magic. The book offers an introduction to a rune magic that is constructed around practical work with the runes in the contemporary world. The ambition, however, has been that the runosophy in this book shall be deeply rooted in historical Nordic magic.

This is really an awesome book compared to many other things I've been led towards runewise. The amount of information it contains relative to its size is rather stunning - especially concerning the runes in a more LHP perspective.

Red Dragon/Black Pullet Grimoire

First Edition Hardcover. Small octavo ( 7 1/4" x 5 1/4"). 208pp. Bound in heavy black cloth with a gilt dragon design on the front cover, and gilt title to the spine. Red "coffin silk" endpapers. Printed on acid-free paper. Rubricated titles and frontispieces, black and white illustrations, no dust jacket - as issued. Edition limited to 800 numbered copies.

The "Dragon Rouge" is one of the most notorious of the little books of black magic known as grimoires. This Teitan Press publication includes a complete facsimile of the earliest known edition - a French printing that is dated 1521 (although it was probably circa 1800) - along with a complete English translation by Joshua A. Wentworth. It is prefaced with a thoughtful and sometimes humorous Introduction by Silens Manus. The text itself is typical of grimoires of the time, and is clearly related to the "Grand Grimoire." Its anonymous author claims that the work is derived from the wisdom of the legendary King Solomon, and then sets down instructions for the creation of a number of magical implements: blasting rod (wand), talisman and magic circle, that are to be used to summon the demon "Lucifugé Rofocale," who is then bound over to serve the sorcerer. In the process a great many sub-demons are named, and their attributes listed. There follows a series of magic spells or recipes for various purposes; from making oneself invisible, to winning the affection of another, to the cure of various common ailments. The book ends with a chart of lucky and unlucky days and a short version of the treasure-finding text known as "La Poule Noire" ("The Black Hen"). The "Dragon Rouge" was very popular in nineteenth century France, and is still said to be one of the most highly revered texts in certain Voodoo circles in Haiti. (no dust jacket as issued).

A Book of Shadows
pan.zos pagurus

The Teitan Press, 2008. First Edition Hardcover.
Quarto (10 x 7 1/2 inches, approx 25.4 x 19.1cm),
128 pages. Original fine black cloth with a striking
white design to the front cover, and white titling
on spine. High quality sewn binding, printed on
coated paper, lavishly illustrated in black and
white throughout. Edition limited to
400 numbered
copies.

The compiler of A Book of Shadows,
pan.zos pagurus, was initiated into a Witchcraft
Coven in England in 1976, and in keeping with
tradition copied out his initiators' "Book of Shadows"
adding his own embellishments, and magical notes.
The result, reproduced here in facsimile, is an
authentic and very beautiful grimoire, created by
an active practitioner of the craft over thirty
years ago. At the time of his initiation pan.zos pagurus
was told that the "Book of Shadows" was a traditional
work central to "the Craft." Although he didn't then
know it, the text was derived from a copy belonging to
the so-called "Father of modern Wicca," Gerald Gardner,
who many now suggest was actually its author.
A Book of Shadows, as it is here published contains
that text, as well as the "rites and structures of
the seasonal ceremonies," that were given to pan.zos
at a later stage. Initiates were also encouraged to
personalize their book, so pan.zos added in a series
of images and diary doodlings that were inspired by
ceremonies and studies over a three year period.
During this time he was also deeply drawn into the
worlds and work of Austin Osman Spare and Aleister
Crowley, whose influence show both in the Spare-inspired
"embellishments," and the frequent quotations from
their works. Giordano Bruno was another important
influence, in particular his treatise De Umbris Idearum
(On the Shadows of Ideas), 1582, and for this reason pan.zos
borrowed the title for his own collection of occult
jottings, a section of which follows the text of A
Book of Shadows.  It is an authentic and
unique example of this particular type of ritual
workbook, executed with considerable artistry by a
genuine practitioner.

The Place of Magic in the Intellectual History of Europe

by
Lynn Thorndike,
edited by Joel Radcliffe.

Limited edition of 250 hand-numbered copies hand bound. Trade Cloth Edition, gray book cloth, gold stamp on spine with dust jacket.

Originally published in 1905, this work, after a manner, is an outline for Lynn Thorndike’s later monumental magnum opus, the eight volume set of the History of Magic and Experimental Science.

This work is first and foremost a historical primer. From the Classical to the Medieval eras, the history of Magick is explored through the works and the personages of these periods. Primary source material is laid clear that comprises the primary signposts of this lineage. These being the likes of Pliny and his Natural History, to Pythagoras, Aristotle, Cato, Boswell, Galen, Seneca and Cicero’s Dream of Scipio, to name a few. Mr. Thorndike provides a thorough groundwork. The eclipse of Magick by science and yet the ageless persistence of Magickal inclinations brings the gravity to the issues of the scientific questions of Magick’s evolution. In keeping with the scholar tradition there are copious Latin and Greek footnotes throughout.

Birthed from strange and ancient larvae, the demon Beelzebub is often heard but seldom seen. His presence throughout history is fleeting, sudden, ever evasive. Even in the light of modern studies, references to the ‘God of Ekron’ are scant and largely academic.

Vudu Cartography

Deluxe edition

Limited to just 88 numbered copies

SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR
landscape 8vo, 245mm x 180mm, 192 pages, full colour,
half morocco, buckram-cloth boards, dust-jacket, slipcase.

Truly a work of art on all levels. Fulgur has surpassed themselves in regards to that uniqe sense of magick when holding a grimoire in your hands, nothing like it.

Vudu Cartography  is  the second volume in Fulgurs Bibliotheque de Verseau series. Vudu Cartography includes more than 130 new Vudu images by the artist, all printed in full colour on archival paper.

This is the first new book by Michael Bertiaux for more than 20 years. Vudu Cartography explores the mysteries of Vudu through chants, oracles, seances and a symbolic system of images – all connected by a descriptive narrative which leads us, like a dusty highway, through the shimmering landscape. Drawn from his experiences in Haiti, Bertiaux’s own evocative voudon ‘art brut’ images create a map for those regions of ‘invisible power’, giving the reader ingress to the ‘mysteries and hiddenesses of an exotic theology, with its spiritist twists and turns and esoteric spaces.

Azoetia

By Andrew Chumbley

Sethos-Behena or 'Black' edition:published 2003 by Xoanon: silver stamping on black boards and slip-case, black-on-black endpapers, black ribbon marker, limited to 77 copies only. Each copy is accompanied by an eight-page text in plain card covers, entitled 'The Rite of Amethystine Light', hand-produced and signed by the author; also a small talisman hand-painted in walnut ink on oriental snakeskin paper. From the perspective of the author, the ritual serves to complete the foundation of the Azoetic phase of magical work 1992-2003 and to open the way for the Draconist Path ahead.

Azoetia or 'The Book of the Magical Quintessence' has become one of the most sought-after new magical works of our time and may be regarded as the foundation text of the Sabbatic Craft Tradition in its present phase of work. Azoetia is comprised of three main parts: an exposition of preliminary magico-aesthetic formulae with detailed descriptions of working tools; the full text of the Sabbatic Rituals of Ingress, Congress, and Egress; and an eleven-chaptered Grimoirium detailing the arcana and composite practices of the Sacred Alphabet - the twenty-two lettered code of sorcerous principles underlying the practical spectrum of the Arte Magical. The entire work intends the reification of traditional British cunning-craft praxis according to the spiritual vision and artistry of a contemporary initiate.

The Spider and the Green Butterfly

E.A. Koetting and Baron DePrince
Eternal Ascent Publications 2009.  1 of only 500 copies.

This text is perhaps the most dangerous to ever be put in print. Its rituals unlock doors that cannot be shut, its symbols and incantations conjure spirits that can never be exorcised, and the whole of your life and being will become a gateway between the worlds.  Study this text, take notes, discuss it and dissect it, but unless you wish to be swept into the blackest ocean by the uncasing current of Vodoun, do not practice from this book, not once, not to see if it works or to use even a minor ritual for your benefit. The moment you do, this world will no longer be yours." - The Spider & the Green Butterfly

PAN PARADOX

BY VEXIOR 218

PUBLISHED BY IXAXAAR 2009. 1. St. edition. A print run of only 677 copies.

Pan, the untamed beast in demon-shape, which strolls restless around our woods and mountains, or rather, coils, levitating through our filthy cosmic galaxies, as a burning dragon, laughing relentlessly at the creation of cosmos.

Pan is the one who ignites the torch of Lucifer, which brings forth the black flame. Pan is the one who creeps up behind, sprinkling gasoline on one´s back and flicks sparkling matches at you. Not because for the fact that he hates you, but just to get your attention… to get you to wake up and for once, take your existence or subsistence seriously. When you have succeeded with that, then your work as a magician can start – a magician who imposes masterwork in black Chaos magic. For this is what black Chaos magic essentially is all about, to feed one´s inner, develop and to transcendent into Chaos. Whether Chaos exists in one´s mind, or beyond cosmos is irrelevant at this moment, what is important is one´s awareness as a Chaotic individual, a human in black magical possession.

The Grimoire of the Golden Toad

By Andrew D. Chumbley

Standard edition: 77 numbered copies, hand-bound in silver stamped black faux leather; 60pp; back cover bearing the Seal of Sabatraxas..

This unique grimoire was published in the year 2000, marking the cusp of the old and the new chiliad. It is the first full grimoire-text to treat specifically and from personal account of the Traditional East Anglian ritual called 'The Waters of the Moon': the solitary initiation of the so-called 'Toad-witch'. The textualisation of this magical process was, in this unique instance, undertaken as an extension of the ritual itself - a perfection of its cycle of arcana to a point of individual crystallisation. Due to the highly specialised nature of the text's ritual practice, only 77 outer copies of this book were issued.

This copy is complete and comes with an envelope containing: a hand-drawn talisman made from antique toadskin leather, a toad bone and a single blackthorn.

The Virtues of Stones

Attributed to Damigeron,
Translated by Patricia Tahil
Edited by Joel Radcliffe

Limited edition of 250 hand-numbered copies hand bound .Trade Cloth Edition, blue book cloth, gold stamp on spine with dust jacket.

This title represents a first time in English translation. As a veritable grimoire of gemstones and for those into primary source materials, this title is a must!
Dating from the Second Century B.C. in Arabia, this classic has been translated from the Old Latin and Classical Greek. An emphasis on completeness is exhibited in the publishing of this work; in this translation the original Latin and Greek are printed in the latter half of the book. Also included are the complete Latin footnotes. The luster from the blend of historical curiosity and the power of stones create a unique tone and brilliant insight into the diverse magickal/ritual and healing uses of gemstones. Fifty gemstones are mentioned. In the history of lapidaries, De Virtutibus Lapidum, by the Mage Damigeron represents one of our deepest roots of an ancient source of the base for our contemporary literature and knowledge on the magickal lore of gemstones. This is possibly the oldest in the West and Near East.
